A natural glow without additives
“We had the plants from this selection examined by experts and discovered that the cells in the flowers absorb light during the day and gradually release it at night,” says Wouter den Hollander, co-owner of HOKO Breeding. “A unique and entirely natural process, without any artificial additives.”
Scientifically confirmed
The discovery has now been studied by Wageningen University & Research (WUR). Their analysis shows that the effect is linked to a specific combination of pigments and cell structures. So far, it has only been observed in one cross within HOKO Breeding’s breeding selections. This cross shows clear genetic similarity to the well-known Magical Hydrangeaseries. The color-changing character of this line may play a role in the glowing process.
