HOKO Breeding Genetics Awarded at the New Plant Awards 2025

At the UK’s National Plant Show, our Hydrangea Zeta Noir was honoured with the Judges’ Vote in the Shrubs (including Conifers) category. The entry was submitted by The Bransford Webbs Plant Company and Darby Nurseries, who are introducing the variety to the UK market. Zeta Noir impressed the jury with its near-black foliage, strong branching and rich flowering.

Hydrangea Sirius Pink and Hydrangea Sirius Blue also received recognition, winning Silver Awards in the same category. These varieties were entered by Javado UK and cultivated by Van der Peijl Tuinplanten. Hydrangea Sirius combines a well-branched structure with continuous flowering. The refined lacecap blooms open elegantly above the foliage and stand out in soft pink or blue shades.

The New Plant Area, where the awards are presented, was once again bursting with innovation: over 137 entries across seven categories offered visitors plenty of inspiration. The fact that three HOKO varieties emerged as winners highlights our ongoing commitment to distinctive genetics and strong growing foundations.

We warmly congratulate Bransford Webbs, Darby Nurseries and Javado UK on these shared achievements and thank them for their trust in our breeding.
